Big and Tiny Shinys

{New Holiday finds for this season, from the awesome hoard}

The lady had a ton of ornaments but since I haven't been displaying mine much over the years I held back and only picked out ones I really loved.  I need to come up with a way to display mine without fear of them falling off a tree branch.  I have tried putting them in bowls and vases but it looks sub-par to me.  Still thinking on it though!

  1. What a fabulous score! I have a little silver tree to display my collection of mid-century Shiny Brites, sputniks, etc and I LOVE the ornaments in this photo! I think they would make a really cute garland just hanging from some silver ribbon or red/white twine or even a strand of fairy lights. Maybe over your bed? I hung a thick garland made of dozens of colorful ornaments all wired together on my headboard this year, it looked adorable and I loved it!

  2. I used the small ones to decorate the 2 foot aluminum tree this year, but couldn't find a place to display the larger ones. I get really nervous hanging them because I am sure someone is going to accidentally bump them and crash! Good on you for bedroom holiday decorating! Your garland sounds super pretty! I used to have a strand of white star lights wrapped around my headboard and it was kinda magical looking. I took them down because the white wire against the black bed frame bothered me...but if I wrapped some silver garland over the white wires...maybe I'll have to do that next year! Thanks for the idea!

  3. I love fairy lights on the headboard! You could tape over the little star lights and spraypaint the wire black if you were so inclined. Your ornaments would also be pretty in a gallon or larger clear glass/canister jar, the kind with the glass lid.

  4. Just seeing this post on the Shiny Brite ornaments. I display mine in those big, round, clear glass canisters with the domed clear glass lids. The type you would put flour in. Plenty of room to layer the ornaments. Makes them easy to see and keeps them dust free. At the end of the season I don't unpack the canisters--just put them away full.
