The penguin in action

Here is an old ad showing the Penguin doing it's thing! I, honestly, never knew it was anything but an ice bucket either until I came across this ad. The penguins on it kinda say 'cold server'. However, showing up at a potluck with your hot or cold foods in this presentation would be so awesome! Why not just show up with ice in it? At first , maybe the host will be pissed, but when they see the cool penguin container... You'll be the hit of the party! That's my plan anyway!
Thanks so much for all the comments and sharing your nostalgia. I love reading it!

  1. Ah, I love the penguin hot and cold server. AND there are actually variants to look for!! It was produced so long, it can be found with either wood or bakelite handles, and I own one that is copper, so they also made it in that color at least. I've always hoped I'd find more colors but no luck so far.

  3. Don't forget - sometime this month (the 14th, 19th, or 20th, depending which online calendar of little known dates and observances you use) is Penguin Awareness Day! Hope to see the server in use then!

  6. How totally cool. Went to the thrift store again today and spent ANOTHER $45! I'm out of control. Speaking of penguin, bought a hat for my friend Melinda that is a penguin beanie. Need to start my tie one on also.

  9. I love your page!! I just picked one up at a garage sale and there was water leaking around the middle where it seems to come together. I think that they immersed it in water and I think that is a no-no but there's no instruction manual. Can you share what is in the instruction manual a little more?

  11. I all but forgot about the penguin until my daughter showed me one she purchased at an estate sale. I used my Grandmother's until it was beyond use. It was used strictly to keep breads and rolls warm on the table. This may be because we had hot bread at each meal. It was perfect for use as such.
