Scrap Crafty~ man's tie choker/scarf

Last Friday I went to a thrift and picked up a tie for a male victim's pending birthday. I was playing around with it and came up with this idea of wearing it myself! All I did was wrap it around my neck and tie it in the back, then hid the tail behind the back of my shirt. So simple, but I think it looks really chic!
I now have gotten a number of ideas for men's ties. now i'll have to get my own!

  3. Sewing with ties is one of my most favorite things. In fact, my plan is to publish my own craft book around the idea. I have a tote to finish which I will post soon, a book with some cool pics I know you'll love, and a bunch more stuff. So stay tuned. Really great pic of you, by the way. Such pretty skin and pretty mouth.

  4. "Anonymous", if that really is your name, my glasses are real, aren't they fabulous? They are vintage and I have several pairs! I figure if I have to wear glasses, why not wear some that reflect my lifestyle and personality!?

  5. I've sewn several wrist cuffs out of the skinny ends or ties. I fasten them with a button. I was trying to look for a picture but I don't think I've taken any.

  6. Ooh! I saw a quilt once where they used vintage ties and made little shirts from the quilt fabric and used the ties, as well, for a tie! It was very cute!

AND I think you're glasses are lovely! (pptthhht! anon.) I haven't found any that suit my face! You were made for yours!!

~pretending sanity~ we are thinking along the same lines! I am wanting to made a 'neck cuff?' with a neat button as the attachment and have it to be worn in the front!

  9. I figured that anonymous comment wasn't snarky. I get anonymous comments all the time, and they're positive ones. I wish blogger would give us the email address--I like to write people back and say thanks for the comment. One reason I'm considering a switch to Typepad.

  10. ~Juli~ I got a couple of my glasses actually done at walmart, very cheap! My advice for when looking at vintage frames is to choose ones that have metal around the lense area. The plasic ones can get damaged during the process. Plastic frames have to be heated in order to have the lenses put in..not a good idea to do to 50+ year old frames! I have had a pair of plastic ones turn out fine but after learning about the heating and all, I don't get plastic anymore. Thanks for writing back and clearing that all up, don't be a stranger! Hope my advice helps!

  13. I love the glasses (and all the other stuff, too!)! I have been looking for some like that for years, w/o much luck. I have some retro-modern 9 west ones that are tortoise-shell and "cat-eye" but not to the extreme like your cool ones!

I am so totally bookmarking your blog! I love retro 50's stuff!
