Hello dear readers! I recently acquired a bunch of pretty cool vintage doo-dads that I thought I would show off to you all.
These containers...Please disregard the fact of it being a crappy photo.
ice trays. I am very fond of the ones on the right with the detailed handles. I'm not going to use them for ice. I think they could be repurposed somehow...
HATS!...16 of them. Once I have a decent hairdo I'll sport a few.
A cute "Made in Japan" Santa decoration. Some neat old detective pulp novels.
An Asian robe that is in mint condition.
Now for the best ever! Drum roll please!.....ahh, drum roll?!....
A 6 1/2 foot aluminum Christmas tree!
Check out the neat red glass balls attached to the tips. The best part of the story is that it was rescued from a dumpster!
I'm seething, green and jealous. But happy for you. Wait... nope...it's gone, and I'm back to being mostly jealous. I admire your finds (with great and bitter envy). Only the small consolation that I already have that cannister set makes me slightly less envious. And the longing and regret I feel because my grandma had that tree and my parents didn't keep it for me? It makes the jealousy seep in even deeper.
ReplyDeletethe tree is from the dumpster! i'd be jumping up and down quite a bit right now!!! holy moley! i just paid $140 for mine on ebay and that was luck!! they're going for at least $400, especially yours! jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteMay I join the green chorus of silver tree envy?
ReplyDeleteyou sure are one lucky lady to have found that wonderful aluminum tree in the dumpster. i am so glad you rescued it and it will go to a good home. fortunately for you the person throwing it away didnt know what a precious thing they had.
ReplyDeleteHoly tinsel and silver bells! You are the luckiest girl on the planet!
ReplyDeleteGod bless the idiots who throw good stuff into the dumpster. I would like to personally thank them for having no taste for vintage wares whatsoever!
ReplyDeleteOH MY i wouldve went into a dumpster for that!! i have one thats not in the greatest shape and one i sold for money..... sigh i wish I had it back!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Nice finds!!
ReplyDeleteWow ,what a haul ! I love all your goodies! You grabbed a holy grail out of the trash!I noticed the sleeves to the branches over to the side DON'T lose them! The santa is also adorable.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could use the cool ice-trays for jewelry organization somehow.
OMG, you have SO got thrift mojo workin'. Those hats.....those wonderful wonderful hats!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd what kind of insane person would EVER put a tree like THAT in the garbage!?!?! Lucky lucky lady! :)
And, BTW, it's awesome to have you back!!!!
The hats are to die for! we had ice cube trays just like that when I was a kid. Thanks for the memories!
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have kitties with a fondness for tinsel I would so totally get one of those trees! I am pea green with envy.
ReplyDeletemy mom still uses the same exact canister set!
ReplyDeletedamn girl!
ReplyDeleteyou've racked up on some pretty awesome stuff but when have you not found awesome goodies?
Here's an idea for repurposing the ice trays...they're the perfect size for baking (the first bake - before slicing and re-baking) biscotti. Really - it's true.
ReplyDeleteI have that tea canister--how cool that you got the whole set!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the ice trays! I want some! :)
ReplyDeleteOh those metal ice trays were awful!!!
ReplyDeleteLaughing at the tree. Well.. that you went into a dumpster for it. I've gotten cool stuff from dumpsters.
