A Virtual Florida Vacation!

Just so you know, that post card is a liar.  COOL in Summer?!?  Sure, if you are vacationing from Hell, it may seem "cooler" to you.  The summers around here average in the upper 90s with the humidity being like drowning in a sauna.  Sweltering in Summer, that's what the card should say.

But the great thing about Florida is there are a ton of neat old vacation/ roadside stuff still around.  We collect vintage Florida souvenirs and love to research and discover old stuff in our state that is new to us.  We have numerous Florida spots we still want to visit.

A few years ago (2016) we went to Ocala and Silver Springs for several days. Also within this time frame we went to Orlando.  I didn't post about it because we had planned on going to Weeki Wachee within the year and I had the idea of doing a series of posts highlighting all spots.  We have had to cancel that Weeki Wachee trip 4 times over the past 4 years.  Either it was a hurricane or the park was reaching max capacity before the gate even opened or PB couldn't miss school to go during their down season.  But since at this time it looks like taking a real vacation is not in the near future for us or the rest of the country, I thought I would post a virtual two week vacation for folks to enjoy!

So slather on some tanning lotion, blow up a beach ball, and get some sand in your ass....You're going to Florida!

  1. I am so ready to go! We love to visit the Ocala area and hope to move there or a little east in Dunnellon. I love to drive around the Silver Springs area and see all the "vintage" things that are still there. So many things have changed over the years in that area. I still remember all the great shows that were there many m,any years ago.
