Kitchen Kit

I picked up this vintage hostess gift box at a thrift store a couple of years back.

 Never been used...

I comes with four folded napkins and a set of wood salad tongs, but
the best is the illustrated big headed salt and pepper peoples!

What an adorable kit! You find the neatest stuff, Mary!

I really wonder what the story is with this set. Maybe it was received as a gift from Aunt Gladys. The recipient didn't like it enough to use it but knew that every time Aunt Gladys visited she would be on the look out for the Kitchen Kit...going on and on about the wonderful gift she had given, loved so much it has been kept in the box for admiration only!

I think maybe it was a wedding gift. Oh! Or maybe a hostess gift! And kept around for exactly the reason you stated!

I started thinking about if it were me, why would I still have this set...It would be that someone gave it to me, I already had one, and I was saving it back for regifting! Ha! Only I guess no one came along in need of a Kitchen Kit. Something must have happened causing the owner to never again be invited to a function to gift it to anyone. Maybe she ripped a big one at the last bridge club gathering! whhooo.....Lentils!
