Last year I had wanted to try my hand at making some overly embellished JOL pails but ran out of time, so here they are this season.
I used a bunch of stuff that I had in my Halloween coffers such as vintage cupcake bits, faux candies, and left over printed images from a Halloween garland I made back in 2012.

Did you know you can't buy Mary Janes anymore in the real world (at least not in my parts)? I can only find them available online, in industrial sized vats and for insane amounts of money. They used to be available at cheapo places like Family Dollar General for a buck. I'm just glad we bought so many last year and saved the wrappers.

Sadly we don't get the round pumpkin shaped Jack-o-lantern pales in the UK (except in last few yrs, ocassionally very tiny 1's that have little dramatic affect other than cuteness, as you can only get about 3 sweets in them..) .. ORIGINALLY & traditionally, Jack-o-lanterns were made from turnips or swedes (evidence going back to at least the 16th century in the UK, & they were probably made for far longer).. I still remember my dad spending hrs carving them for me & my sister when we were kids. They took forever to hollow out as they were rock hard, & almost impossible to carve eyes, nose & mouth.. We took great pride in lighting them in the window each night.
I've been trying to convince my best friend for years to ask her brother & his family who live in the US to bring me at least 1 of the round Jack-o-lantern pales when they visit the UK next (which is only every few yrs) or to take it to Guadeloupe when they all meet up to visit their parents each yr, & she can bring it back to the UK for me.. Needless to say, this idea has not gone down well & I'm sadly STILL pumpkin pale free & probably will remain that way 😂.. & am forced to continue to try to find ways to use boring British bucket style Halloween Trick or Treat pales .. 😂🎃 Really NOT as interesting to decorate with I can tell ya..!! Thank you so much for your kind comments! The Halloween decor tour will be up very soon, like in the next day or two. I wasn't aware that in the UK there are no round pumpkin treat pails and just buckets. They are holding back the basic joy of the season by only suppling their people with boring bucket pumpkins! Those kind of things can cause an uproar and a revolt! It would be like there not being Christmas trees but just a Christmas shrub!
