I decided to do something a whole lot different this Halloween season. I love me some holiday decorating but the going all Griswold with it for so many years has taken it's toll on me. I am simplifying it this year but also doing a few somethings I've never done before, keeping it from getting stale!
Typically for the extended holiday season (Hallo-Thanks-Mas) I strip out ALL the decor from walls, tables, shelves, and other various nooks and crannies in the two primary rooms; living and dining. Then cover everything back up in extreme festive exuberance. This year I only tucked the dining room stuff away completely. The regular living room decor got mostly shrouded in creepy cloth and a new primary focal spot was made at the front window. I also did something I had been wanting to do for a while, which is making a holiday curtain. This curtain is actually a black twin sheet and an orange and black buffalo check table cloth I got from a thrift store.
I decided to do a Halloween tree as the center focal point and flank the sides with a couple of matching vintage tall plant stands turned display shelves.
Here's a few views:
The other side of the living room I just draped everything in creepy cloth and leaned into the tiki theme that is the regular decor but added back in some of the bits and bobs from a past Halloween theme several years ago : Tiki Voodoo Halloween Swamp Hut
This was much simpler to accomplish decorating-wise. Just not having to find places to stash my regular decor was a load I don't like to deal with.
Now that I'm reviewing this decor, it's still kinda Griswoldian!
