Christmas Jointed Die Cut Cuties

I had so many posts last December (57!) that some things had to be pushed to this year, as this post is.  Here are some super precious vintage paper die cut jointed decorations that actually don't belong to me.
Last year while getting together with friends I fell in love with these and she let me borrow them to photograph and scan to make my own...and you guys too!
So first check these out!

Can you stand it?!  They are suppose to each be 3 pieces however the candy cane one is missing a section.  I say just make 2 of the bottom section.
Check out the below post for scans to DIY this for yourself!

Christmas DIY Die Cut Cuties

(print 1)

In the above post I presented these adorable vintage Christmas jointed Die Cuts.  They actually belong to a friend who let me borrow them to scan and make my own.  I thought you all may be interested in doing this as well.  There are three different ones...angels on a candle, Santas on a candy cane, and Santas on a Christmas tree.  Each set has three pieces that are held together with brass round head fasteners.  However the candy cane one is missing the bottom section so just print two of the long section, it'll work out fine.  You will need 9 sheets of cardstock and 6 fasteners.  The original fasteners are super tiny, just use what you have.  I happen to have a box that I picked up at at thrift store years ago.  I guess they can be bought new at office supply stores, maybe even in the scrapbook section of a craft store...or skip that and just glue the pieces together.
To make sure the sizes of each piece remained proportionate I did not crop any of these scans, which explains their wonkiness.
Hope you enjoy these!  I haven't made mine yet.  I was kinda planning on printing them out huge on the wide format printer at the library but that ain't happening anytime soon!

Disgruntled Santa Update

I found the ad for my 1959  Disgruntled Santa Light!

Now I know he was holding a "Will work for Christmas" sign in his hand!  And I had thought a bottom of whiskey was a good idea...I wasn't too far off!

Santa's Mail Bag

I also found the original ad for my Santa's holiday mail bag:

 It was from 1961 Montgomery Wards retailing for 75 ¢.
"Let jolly St. Nick collect mail outside, indoors.  Weather resistant felt.  Imported."

I could not imagine putting something made out of felt outside?!

You must check out the site I found this on: Christmas.musetechnical. It has Christmas, spring/summer, and fall/winter catalogs dating back to 1940 until fairly present.  Each catalog has thumbnail pages making it easy to navigate to what kind of items you are most interested in.  I enjoyed even looking through the 1980s catalogs finding things I still have from my childhood or things I had longed for.

Xmas 2020 Santa Soaky

{New Christmas Stuff 2020}

This Santa Soaky bottle was an after Christmas find at an antique mall for 5 bucks.
The idea crossed my mind that having a bunch of these would be cute as holiday bathroom decor...no, must resist also decorating the bathroom.  Besides, finding a bunch of these for cheap is not going to happen, so I am saved.

I believe this to be the last of the "new stuff".  Most of these things could have been really included with last year's haul but I usually cut off any items that are found past the first week of December because the month is already full and hectic enough to add any more.  This worked out for me for this year to have some things to post but next year....it's looking like slim pickings if I am lucky!

Xmas 2020 Bell Ringer Santa

{New Christmas Stuff 2020}

Mr. Husband bought me this metal mechanical bell ringer Santa for Christmas last year.  You wind up his key and his arms move back and forth, hence ringing the bell.  I think I may set him up with a mini black cauldron a la Salvation Army style!

Xmas 2020 Pinecone Orchestra

{New Christmas Stuff 2020}

We bought these little cuties at a flea market for a couple of bucks near the end of December 2019.  I had originally bought them as bits to use in Christmas crafts for a future sale.  Last season I placed them under one of our aluminum Christmas trees just temporary to which they looked ultra precious...now they are part of the hoard!

Xmas 2020 December Holiday Card Holder

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

Here is another felt card holder, found at a thrift store.  It has four pockets for holding cards.  Sometimes I use these to clip our family holiday pictures to on the sides and hang on the wall.

Xmas 2020 Ornament hangers box

{New Christmas Stuff 2020}

I know the photo of the front of this box looks blurry but it's kinda how it really looks.
I picked it up at a thrift store last December for a quarter ..still has hangers in it too!

Xmas 2020 Midget Lites

{New Christmas Stuff 2020}

We picked up this box of midget lites at an antique mall for 5 bucks because I loved the box art.  I replaced the missing cellophane with a red one to kinda draw attention away from the interior of the box because the strand color is bothersome to me for some reason.  The bulbs for this are little individual screw in kinds...and just so you know "the little lites aren't twinkling, Clark."  (The strand doesn't work.)

Xmas 2020 Chandeliers

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

These two weird mama-jamas remind me of Polish pajaki chandeliers.
I found them at at estate sale back in Feb.

Xmas 2020 Fred Waring Record Cover

{New stuff Christmas 2020}

I found this record album cover (no record) at a thrift store but thought it was worth the dollar for the cover art.  I was able to find the music for it on youtube and I have to say, I'm good with only having the cover!

The clear ice cube gift box cracks me up!

Xmas 2020 Snowman candles

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

This quartet of slovenly snowmen wish you a jolly holiday with the tipping of their sullied stove tops!

Xmas 2020 Felt Santa Mail Bag

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I love vintage Christmas mail/card bags/holders.  We don't get a lot of Christmas cards but that's ok.  I like to use these to put our vintage Christmas cards in.

I found this mail bag at a thrift store for 50 ¢ (after Christmas sale).  I guess no one found him at the full price because he was wadded up and mixed in with a big pile of crappy dollar tree stockings.

Xmas 2020 Little plastic snowman

{New stuff Christmas 2020}

I bought this little battered guy at an estate sale last December.  I found him on a shelf shoved off to the back in a dank garage.  He was the only thing I found at that sale.

Xmas 2020 Merry Christmas Sign

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

This Merry Christmas sign to me is a must have in a Christmas collectors stash.  It's crappy and plastic 70s but it's classic to me.
I found this one at a thrift store for a buck.

Xmas 2020 Gift box

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

Found this gift box at a thrift store back in January...apparently in it's previous life it held Christmas tape, Christmas tape, Christmas tape!
None was in the box though.  I like to pretend it was of the awesomeness of these:

Xmas 2020 Gift Box

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I found this holiday themed gift box at an estate sale last year.

Close up.

I like to use stuff like this to corral small papery things in (like vintage gift tags) and place the box on a table to rifle through periodically during the holiday.

Xmas 2020 Santa's Helpers

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

A friend of mine happened to check out a new resale shop in town last December and came across a few sets of these new old stock "Santa's Helpers" foot long pencils, which she gave me a set!

Xmas 2020 Elves

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

Found three new elves this year.
I have named them Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

Xmas 2020 Felt Santa Face

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I found this precious little felt Santa face at a thrift store for a quarter.

Xmas 2020 Hi! Stocking

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I found his amazingly huge (2 feet long) stocking at a thrift store for a buck!

Xmas 2020 Ceramic Santas

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

These three vintage ceramic figurines came to me from a reader of MHIcTy named Mary.
They had belonged to her mom and she thought I would give them a good home!

The piece seen above is marked Kreiss and originally sold for 1.98.  The flanking smaller Santas have their arms wrapped into a circle to hold a candle, or I think a candy cane would work too!

These two guys were just 69 ¢ each!

I love the sweet little face of the reindeer in the stocking on the left.  The Santa on the right is delivering someone a new little sister!

It was very kind of Mary to pass these along to me, especially since they were her mother's.
Thank you so much, Mary!

Xmas 2020 Peace, man!

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

This vintage 1990 Simpsons hand towel and oven mit was an ebay find.  It is 'brand new' still.  I thought it would look cute hanging up in the kitchen.  Note to self...for the love of tinsel, please, please don't start decorating the kitchen for Christmas too...

Xmas 2020 Seasons Greetings Tray

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I picked this tray up at an estate sale.  Trays are always good to have around for serving cookies on or piling up those 3 Christmas cards we get.
This one came with a plate hanger so it can even be wall decor.

Xmas 2020 Diecut Snowman

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I picked this cute guy up at an estate sale back in February.  I like the detail of his eyelashes being made from burnt matchsticks.

Xmas 2020 Door Decor

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

I bought these bedraggled door knob hangers at an antique mall at an after Christmas sale half off (a buck 50).  They are in sad, sad shape.  They were a bit of an impulse emotional buy.  I am an avid vintage Christmas stuff shopper and when it's the month of January I know that thrifts and antique malls are going to be packing it all up til the next season (some thrifts do a Christmas in July though).  I start getting all nervous and anxious knowing no more old Christmas stuff!  So when I came across these it was at the end, the finish line, scraping the bottom of the barrel...January 7.  They were cheap, I don't have any knob hangers, they were a DIY kit originally I am pretty sure (love vintage crafts!)...I am weak.  I thought maybe I could fix them up or cut bits off to use in other crafty endeavors...but honestly I'll probably just hang them up as is!

Xmas 2020 Egg Head Santa

{New Stuff Christmas 2020}

Check out this interesting stryrofoam toothpick skewered santa head.  He should have been included in last year's holiday haul since I found him in Nov 2019 but he got overlooked.  The face is made out of that same brittle thin plastic like vintage Halloween masks (see here for example) and has a couple of thin cracks in his beard.

The back view.  I bought him at the estate sale that had the plastic wrapped couch.
Also at that sale I ran into Crabby Face Lady.

I think this Santa on a stick would work well in some christmas crafting...maybe as a noggin on a folded magazine sculpture such as Luther the Snowman.

Xmas 2020 Pussycat's Christmas

{New stuff Christmas 2020}

It's the holiday season!
You would think I wouldn't have too much "new" stuff this season since I have not been leaving my house much for the past 9 months, but you would be wrong! During Dec 2019 and Jan 2020 I managed to score some pretty cool things which I photographed way back then and have them all scheduled for this season.
First I have this record called Pussycat's Christmas.  We picked it up at an antique mall for 6 bucks.  I haven't listened to it yet, I am hoping it's got some resemblance to my most favorite Christmas album, Jingle Cats where the cats are meowing the music!
